About Me

Hello!

My name is Liz Self.

I’m a learning experience designer and an experienced instructor with over ten years of education experience. I focus on solving business problems through changing learner behavior.

Why Hire Me?

I’m a fast learner and a good teacher. I have a knack for asking the right questions to the right people at the right time. I am skilled at identifying what leadership needs from training and leading large, cross-departmental projects.

From my early years teaching English in Japan to my career as an art historian and now my time as an instructional designer, I’ve dedicated my career to understanding how people learn.

I believe that the best way to motivate learners is to trust them to lead you to what they need.

What do i bring?

I’m a strong believer in the importance of iterative design. In fast-paced business environments, feedback from stakeholders is key, and there’s no time to waste. I believe every development process should include a continuous feedback loop.

I also strongly believe in the importance of accessibility and Universal Design.
Some of my favorite books are Map It (Cathy Moore), Design for How People Learn (Julie Dirksen), and e-Learning and the Science of Instruction (Ruth C. Clark and Arthur E. Mayer).
