Overview
I created this training imagining that a company had come to me requesting an elearning module that would reinforce safe practices for workers who must work on site during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the concepts themselves are simple, they can be difficult to remember in the moment. I created a branching scenario where the worker went through typical workday actions step-by-step. In addition to providing naturalistic feedback (negative co-worker reactions, supervisor criticisms, etc.), I also provided a progress meter showing the level of risk, which changes based on the user’s decisions – from more to less risky.
Problem
Many workers will need to or have already returned to work. It is absolutely crucial that COVID-19 transmission be kept to a minimum, both for worker safety and for productivity. Detailed health and safety plans are often convoluted and difficult to read, although important. Therefore, I created this simplified training to reinforce important safety practices in a fun, easy-to-understand way.
Tools
I was able to quickly create this simulation by using Twinery to plan out and structure the branching scenario, using only text. I developed the rest of the elearning in Storyline 360.
